Strategic Financial Planning: The Financial Model

This session was previously marketed as both: Transforming Nonprofit Business Models and Scenarios and Future Forecasting. These 2 sessions have been combined into one and will cover all the content in one session. This workshop will also be presented on September 21, but the content will be the same as the September 28 session; you should attend just one session.

This training is designed to illuminate the connection between your mission and your business model. It is designed for nonprofit leaders who want to learn about analytical tools to assist in understanding your organization’s current financial position and different approaches to having practical conversations critical to organizational decision-making, and factors to consider when scenario planning and multi-year budgeting.

You will learn about the four core components to a nonprofit business model: revenue mix, understanding the cost of effective programs, infrastructure, and capital structure. You will understand how all of these components come together to impact your organization’s health and adaptability for change.

Presented by Allison Wagstrom, Portfolio Manager for the Nonprofit Assistance Fund. Allison brings a passion for nonprofit finance and a background in lending. Previously, Allison served as the Associate Director of the League of Women Voters Minnesota where she brought her leadership to overseeing the administrative and financial aspects of the organization. In addition, she managed LWV’s flagship education programs including statewide and federal election education work. Allison was the Operations Director for Faith’s Lodge. Prior to her work in the nonprofit sector, she served as a loan underwriter/processor for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. Following her graduation from De Pauw University, Allison taught fourth grade in Houston, Texas as a member of Teach for America.
