Kent Davis – McREL International

 

Kent conducts workshops and training for K-12 teachers and administrators on research-based leadership and instructional practices to improve student learning. Prior to joining McREL, Kent was a principal and associate superintendent in the Deer Valley Unified School District in Phoenix, Arizona, for 32 years, overseeing all aspects of curriculum, instruction, assessment, student support services, and district operations.

School Leadership That Works:
Evidence-Based Strategies for Sharpening Instructional Focus, Managing Change Processes, and Creating Shared Vision

Discover the leadership responsibilities that are most strongly connected to student achievement and learn practical strategies to develop a purposeful, positive school community, initiate and manage change within your school, and choose the right focus for your school's improvement initiatives.  Participants will also receive virtual coaching during the 2018-2019 school year.

Session learnings include:

  • Understanding the power of research (Balanced Leadership framework)
  • Establishing a clear instructional focus
  • Creating demand for change, breaking the status quo
  • Managing staff perceptions and reactions to change
  • Monitoring, evaluating, and sustaining important initiatives
  • Building a purposeful school community that shares a common vision and path
  • When you need to be a directive leader and when is it better to share leadership
  • Developing operating principles and agreements
  • Reflection and application: Developing a plan of action

$499 per person. Includes 3-day workshop and extended virtual coaching, plus lunch and refreshments.
