About the Presenter

   
Kris Rouleau – McREL International



Kris works with schools, districts, and state departments of education as they navigate change and implement practices and structures to reduce variability and increase student achievement. Through consulting, coaching, and facilitation of workshops, she provides services, strategies, and technical assistance to support change efforts. Kris is a licensed school administrator and brings more than 20 years’ experience in education, working in a variety of racially and culturally diverse communities. She has served as a classroom teacher, curriculum specialist, elementary school principal, and district-level curriculum administrator. As a district reading/language arts specialist, she worked with classroom teachers and principals to improve instruction, assessment, and intervention practices to improve student achievement in reading.

How to Move your School from Improvement to Innovation:
A Guided Pathway for Success

Learn why curiosity is an important lever for learning and how to cultivate it in teachers, leaders, and learners using the five improvement and innovation pathways found in McREL’s Curiosity Works™ approach. Participants will also receive extended virtual coaching during 2018-19 school year. 

You’ll leave this intensive 2-day session with:

  • A plan of action to begin a Curiosity Works approach to school improvement.17 tools to support your school’s improvement journey.
  • An understanding of the important differences between an inside-out, curiosity-driven approach to school improvement and an outside-in or top-down approach.
  • A strong, well-articulated set statement about your school’s core values, mission, and vision.
  • A data review process that focuses on your school’s bright spots as well as areas for growth, resulting in a self-assessment of your school’s position along the five Curiosity Works improvement pathways.
  • A focus for improvement or innovation and identification of high-leverage strategies for action.
  • A plan to support peer coaching as a professional learning structure.An understanding of the importance of monitoring change, both for the organization and for individuals.
  • Identification of leadership actions you’ll use to support implementation of your school’s change initiatives.

Registration fee:

$399 per person. Includes 2-day workshop and extended virtual coaching, plus lunch and refreshments.
