Curiosity Works®

Moving your School from Improvement to Innovation

A professional learning session for principals, school leadership team members, and central office administrators

July 30-31, 2019

Ann Arbor, Michigan

Learn why curiosity is an important lever for learning and how to cultivate it in teachers, leaders, and learners using the innovation pathways found in McREL’s Curiosity Works approach to school improvement. You’ll leave this engaging, interactive 2-day session with tools, tips, and strategic advice you can put to use during the 2019-20 school year.

Designed for principals and school leadership team members, the session topics and learnings include:

  • 17 tools to support your school’s improvement journey. Curiosity Works book cover
  • Understanding the important differences between an inside-out, curiosity-driven approach to school improvement and an outside-in or top-down approach.
  • A process for crafting a strong, well-articulated statement about your school’s core values, mission, and vision.
  • A data review process that focuses on your school’s bright spots as well as areas for growth, resulting in a self-assessment of your school’s position along the Curiosity Works improvement pathways.
  • A focus for improvement or innovation, and identification of high-leverage strategies for action.
  • An understanding of the importance of monitoring change, both for the organization and for individuals.
  • Identification of leadership actions you’ll use to support implementation of your school’s change initiatives.
  • A plan of action to begin a Curiosity Works approach to school improvement.

While individual school leaders can register and attend this session on their own, it is strongly recommended that multiple members of your school leadership team attend this session together, to maximize strategic visioning and planning for the 2019-2020 school year.

Registration fee: $399 per person. Includes 2-day workshop, book and materials, lunches, and refreshments.
