Yes, Ma'am! With Patty Murphy

This class explores improv piecing and precision piecing. I will show you how to improv piece without using a foundation and turn those parts into a beautiful quilt. We will discuss methods for pressing, how to easily make Half-Square Triangles, how to properly piece borders and how to insert shapes into your border. 

This quilt was made entirely from batik scraps (except the borders). Please use any scraps you'd like for your quilt. Some scraps are oddly shaped, some are leftover strips, and some are made from strips I cut from larger pieces or larger scraps of fabric. 

Consider the colors you want in your quilt and bring a good selection of scraps. I recommend bringing more than you think you'll need. It will be easier if you have each color scrap in a separate container - Ziploc bag, clear shoe box, etc. We will discuss color placement, too, so a wider variety of colors will make your improv piecing by color easier. If you can gather approximately 4 - 5 yards of scraps you should be able to make good progress on your quilt top. 

Don't forget all of your goodies- machine, foot pedal, thread, and maybe a sack lunch.  (Or we can order out for lunch- no problem!)
