Please join us for the Second Annual Darius Jones 5k Walk/Run on Saturday October 8, 2011 at the Martinez Regional Shoreline Park and John Muir Amphitheater.

The 5K will take place along the shoreline with water and bridge views.  We will begin with an opening ceremony and end with a gathering in the amphitheater.  Along with the run/walk, join us for music, food, great raffle prizes, and visit the educational booths.  Additions to this year’s event include professional race timing by Synergy Racing, an enhanced lunch menu provided by Kinder's & celebrity guest speakers!

All proceeds from the event will enable the foundation’s commitment to creating awareness and education among players, coaches, referees, youth leaders and parents in all athletic leagues, on the importance of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) education.  We are also committed to providing availability and accessibility of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) at all sites where practices and game events are planned, organized and held.

Last year’s 5K was a successful kick-off to the foundation’s fundraising efforts and we exceeded our goal!  Through our partnership with American Medical Response and with support from our sponsors and friends, the foundation has placed 27 AED’s in local schools!

Your participation this year will help us to reach our fundraising goal of $100,000.  This will provide 55 AED’s to local schools and 250 local coaches and community members with certified CPR training.

We hope you, your family and friends will join us for our Second Annual 5k Run/Walk on Saturday October 8th, not only to remember and celebrate the life of Darius, but to provide hope and preventative assistance to all athletes and families that could be confronted with the same tragic situation.
