Tour of the Wakefield Estate

Experience a special private tour of the Wakefield Estate and Arboretum during its iconic Dogwood Days, a celebration of hundreds of glorious kousa dogwoods during their peak bloom. In addition to viewing the dogwoods, you will be guided around the grounds, shown many of the highlights - both horticultural and historical - of this magical place and the arboretum created by Polly Wakefield during her life here as the last of eleven generations of a related family.

The guided tour will cover the formal garden portion of this 22-acre property but energetic souls are welcome to visit the llamas or chickens at the end of the tour.

Participants can enjoy a tasty boxed lunch as they relax on the "Piazza," the porch of the 1794 Isaac Davenport Mansion which overlooks dozens of dogwoods, or they can sit on the Piazza Terrace, the "garden room" adjacent to the mansion with a front row view of the estate's new Dwarf Conifer collection. The Wakefield Estate is a level 2 certified Arboretum and has recently been designated a reference garden for the American Conifer Society. Space is limited, must pre-register.
