2019 State Convention 

The AMTA-NV Chapter's annual Convention hosts its Annual Member Meeting at Palace Station Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas for massage therapy students and professionals - with special guest speakers, massage therapy government relations updates, and giveaways. Massage Therapy and Pathology: Common and Contagious Skin Disorders – (Werner, 4 CEHs) – Massage therapists work so closely with the skin that it is vital to be well-informed about common and contagious skin problems. This class covers the definition, demographics, etiology, signs and symptoms, treatment options, and role of massage for the following: herpes simplex, staph infections (including MRSA), psoriasis, dermatitis/eczema, and skin cancer. Supplies: pen, paper

DAY 2  (Thursday, May 9, 2019)

Thai Yoga Massage on the Table – (Reed, 4 of 8.5 CEHs) – Thai Yoga Massage with Living Metta invites you to master a fusion of ancient and modern practices to breathwork, mobilization, and massage therapy. Weaved throughout this healing art is the intention of metta, the Thai expression for “loving kindness”. Embodying loving kindness is the result of being sure all our techniques “feel good to give and feel good to receive.” Together, we will stretch and expand into positivity, ease, and flow. Join us as we grow our capacity to give and receive loving kindness at the table and in every area of our lives! Supplies: wear loose & comfortable clothing, massage table, linens/bolsters

Basic Introduction To Manual Lymphatic Drainage (Vodder Technique) for Massage Therapists – (McGill, 4 of 8 CEHs) – This one-day course will introduce attendees to Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) and will provide an understanding of the basic anatomy, physiology and functions of the lymphatic system. Participants will be able to discuss the benefits, indications and contraindications of MLD as well as perform one of the basic Vodder techniques to the neck. Supplies: massage table, linens/bolsters, wear loose clothing
