2018 Science Research Institute Junior Division Application Form

The purpose of the Science Research Program is to provide superior research experience for motivated middle school students by working on research projects in physics, mathematics, alternative energy, bioinformatics, mathematical biology, behavioral science, electronics, and computer science.

The research program occurs from June 9 to August 11 and is open to students entering 6 to 8th grade in fall 2018.

Selected students must have a strong interest and commitment in scientifric research.  To produce a successful science fair research project, selected students must be able to devote a minimum of 160 hours during the summer towards the research effort. We hope that this experience will have a positive effort on building student interest in careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).

During the program, students learn how to conduct a review of literatures; refine a research project and hypothesis; learn data analysis methods and software tools; conduct the research; develop a presentation board; and participate in final project showcase.  Students who completed outstanding projects will also start the process of selecting a mentoring scientist of your choice to continue your research.

Requirements

Students in grades 6 - 8 are eligible for this program.  The program will admit no more than 12 qualified students for the junior division.  The acceptance to the program is on a rolling basis so please apply early.  For more information, contact Dr. Li at dr.li@ardentacademy.com.
