Presented by Jeff Hellenbrand, Hellenbrand Inc.  This seminar will review optimizations from Madison, WI study, its continued impact and current chloride trends; an update on the Waukesha optimization project; and the impact of higher salt efficiency levels as it relates to current salt efficiency levels for your market; plus, learn what our neighboring State of MN and its statewide chloride reduction program.

Presented by David Emmens, Pentair.  This session was created to explain the NSF/Ansi 401 certification standard, what contaminants are related to this standard and their associated
Maximum Contaminant Levels. The presentation also covers the Safe Drinking Water Acts process for establishing new contaminants for regulation including useful links to that information directly from the EPA’s website. The presentation also includes a discussion of  balance between a product/technology being certified for reduction of contaminates and the ability of the technology to do so. The presentation touches on the differences in regulatory compliance of  residential vs commercial applications in regards to the Clean Water  Act on discharge of Reverse Osmosis and Ion Exchange waste  streams. This presentation is not meant to provide any legal advice  but only serves to promote awareness of the regulatory environment.

Presentation by Katarina Schulz, UWM School of Freshwater Sciences.  This seminar will provide an overview of Perfluorinated alkyl substances, including nomenclature standards, history of production and use, relevant industry sectors, environmental fate and transport, human and environmental health risks, and routes of human exposure.  It will then cover known contamination in Wisconsin and current status of state and federal efforts to address the issue.  Lastly, there will be a brief description of technologies available for removal of these compounds from water and gaps in knowledge that should be prioritize in future research.
