Morning and afternoon snacks, lunch and banquet are included in the cost of convention.  The Inn at the Commons provides breakfast to those who stay at the hotel.  In addition to the planned activities, the committee will provide information on restaurants, activities, sites, wineries and breweries to encourage attendees to explore all that Southern Oregon has to offer.  The wine tasting tour can also be just a tour of historic Jacksonville if preferred. 

Class materials will be available in electronic format to view on your device or print yourself.  A printed version in a binder is available to purchase for $25 on the registration page.

Presenters:

Dennie Wheeler CPA

Dennie Wheeler is certified public accountant and resident member at the Bandon, Oregon office of Wheeler and Grimes, CPAs, LLC.  His business focuses on tax matters.  He has continuously held an Oregon CPA license since 1977.  He was one of seven people in the United States to pass, on his first attempt, the 2002 U. S. Tax Court examination for non-attorneys to be admitted to the US Tax Court bar.  Dennie frequently represents clients in tax controversies.  He also holds an Oregon Municipal Auditor license, and has co-authored two articles published in professional accounting journals. 

Dennie taught accounting and applied statistics at Oregon State University for four academic years, and has been an adjunct faculty member for three other colleges. He has been a frequent seminar speaker for professional tax-related organizations for over 26 years.  During 2007 and 2008, the Oregon Department of Revenue retained Dennie to teach 16 class hours each year on partner and partnership tas law for Department of Revenue staff.

Dennie has tesitified before several committees of the Oregon Legislature, the Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB), and the Surface Transportation Board.  He has appeared as an expert witness on taxation, accounting and statistics in several courts.

We are pleased and thankful to have Dennie with us again for Convention.  He comes a great distance and fits this project into an extremely busy schedule.  We are fortunate to have him share his knowledge and time with us.

Paul Svendsen CPA/PFS ABV CBA

Paul Svendsen is a Certified Public Accountant specializing in business valuation. He is president of Axia Valuation LLC. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Portland State University and a Master in Business Administration from Portland State University. He has additional in business valuation and personal financial planning. He holds the following credentials: Certified Valuation Analyst, Accredited in Business Valuation, and Personal Financial Specialist. He has performed over 500 business valuation assignments, primarily in the areas of marital dissolution and business litigation, family partnerships and LLCs for estate planning and estate settlement, fractional interests in real estate, mergers, acquisitions and shareholder transactions. Mr. Svendsen has taught extensively in the areas of accounting, finance and business valuation, including Continuing Legal Education seminarsor for the Oregon State Bar, Community Education workshops for Central Oregon Community College in Bend, Oregon, Continuing Education courses for lawyers and accountants in Bend, Oregon, adjunct course instruction for University of Phoenix, Central Oregon Community College and John Hancock University.

Alan Pinck EA

Alan Pinck is an Enrolled Agent with over 25 years of tax preparation experience in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has built a practice specializing in individual and small business tax preparation and audit representation. He is currently chair of the NAEA Education Committee, a speaker at the NTPI events, CSEA Super Seminar, Oregon Society and California Society annual meetings, as well as numerous other presentations for tax groups and small business associations. Having represented thousands of tax returns in audit, Alan has obtained tremendous insight of the audit process as well as knowledge on a wide variety of tax issues. Teresa Hector CPA

Teresa Hector, CPA is a native Medford resident.  She has been preparing tax returns for 40 years, 22 of those as a CPA.  Her practice focus is on income tax covering personal, corporate, partnership, trusts and estates.  She teaches locally and has written and taught the basic course required by the Oregon Board of Tax Practitioners to meet the minimum requirements for the Licensed Tax Preparer’s certification.  

Judi Krussow

Judi Krussow is a Licensed Tax Consultant and and Enrolled Agent.  She has taught personal income tax classes and fiduciary classes for several professional organizations in Oregon and Washington.  Ms. Krussow has 47 years of experience in the tax field, and the past several years has concentrated in the preparation of estate and trust returns.  She is a member of the Oregon Association of Tax Consultants, the National Association of Tax Consultants, the Oregon Association of Independent Accountants, Oregon Society of Enrolled Agents, and the National Association of Enrolled Agents.  Ms. Krussow is a recipient of PESI's Excellence in Education Award.

Kathleen Crawford

Kathleen Crawford EA co-owns the Jacksonville Tax Lady, LLC in Jacksonville, Oregon.  Before that she spent many years in the California Bay Area working in corporate America doing manufacturing management and engineering.

She is an Enrolled Agent and holds an MBA from San Jose University.  She is a fellow of the National Tax Practitioners Institute and a member of the American Academy of Tax Practice.  Kathleen is a Licensed Tax Consultant for the State of Oregon and has taught Continuing Education classes for the Oregon Association of Tax Consultants for the last five years.
