Youth activist Harita Kalvai invites you to join a youth-led climate change poetry event on behalf of The Marin Chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby and The School of Environmental Leadership. This inspiring Zoom event will feature live spoken word performances by local youth poets, as well as presentations on a variety of climate change topics. This event is co-hosted by Green Change, Art Works for Change, Marin Poetry Center, and the Mill Valley Library, with promotional support from Marin County Free Library, San Rafael Public Library, and Novato Library. Community leaders including David KunhardtJonathan Marshall, and Cyane Dandridge will talk about the impacts of climate change, the availability of climate solutions and national climate policies, and the opportunities to bring about change through careers in sustainability fields.

Get inspired by our youth leaders and learn about climate change and the solutions at our disposal. The event will be followed by virtual tabling sessions with local environmental groups.  To participate in this event, register above. A Zoom link will be sent in the confirmation email. A complete list of youth poets will be published on January 7.

SPEAKERS

David Kunhardt,
Vice Mayor of Corte Madera and member of the Climate Reality Leadership Corps, will talk about the impacts of climate change and the opportunity to scale existing solutions, including renewable energy. 

Jonathan Marshall,
Former economics editor of the San Francisco Chronicle and part of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby Economics Policy Network, will talk about national policies for addressing climate change and the prospects for bipartisan legislation.

Cyane Dandridge,
Founder and Executive Director of Strategic Energy Innovations and The School of Environmental Leadership, will discuss career and leadership pathways in sustainability. By connecting students, residents, government officials, and the workforce in the design process, she leads talented teams to identify and implement opportunities for communities to reach their goals. Cyane continues to be excited about the potential for our communities and youth to create an environmentally responsible world, and of SEI’s role in this endeavor.
