Terra Madre Day Celebration

Each year on December 10th, people from around the world gather to Celebrate Foods that are good for our palate, clean for humans, animals and the environment, and fair for producers and consumers called Terra Madre Day.  Come join us and fellow food consumers, foodies, chefs, artisans, food bloggers, restaurant owners, caterers, farmers, food activists, home cooks, educators, nutritionists, food organizers, politicians and more at our Local Milwaukee Celebration at the Blue Ribbon Hall of Best place at the Historic Pabst Brewery next Wednesday, December 10th from 6:30-9:30 pm.

This free event is a pot luck where you are encouraged to bring to share a food item or a dish highlighting heritage eats, regional foods and our local producers.  There will be a cash bar for you to purchase drinks. This year we are specifically encouraging guests to highlight local foods at risk of disappearing.  Please click here to learn more about the Slow Food Ark of Taste project that is working to save these foods, food production and food traditions. Lastly, we would like to encourage all who attend a recipe for the dish you bring, if decide to bring a dish.  We will be putting these together to create a Southeast WI Terra Madre Day Cook Book!!

We hope to gather people in our community together to socialize about good clean fair food and how we can work together to mobilize this goal in our area.  From 7:00-8:00 we will have two special presenters.  Our first presenter is Jennifer Casey who is our Midwest Regional Slow Food Leader and also works locally at the Fondy Food Center.  Jennifer will speak about her recent trip to Italy where she gathered with thousands of other Slow Food advocates from around the world.  She will bring us an update from Slow Food USA and inform us in what we can do to mobilize on a local level here in Southeastern WI.  The second presenter, Thomas Boyden of Slow Food Madison, will show us an informative film he created during his trip to Terra Madre 2014.
