You are cordially invited to the

Inaugural Knights Out Dinner

At West Point

2011 was a historic year. Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell is gone.  Gay and lesbian cadets, graduates, and Soldiers no longer have to lie about their lives and their families.

So Knights Out invites you to an event to celebrate the end of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' and acknowledge the contributions of LGBT members of the Long Gray Line. Former Captain Jonathan Hopkins, USMA ’01, will also be honored for his service to our community and our country. Captain Hopkins, recipient of three Bronze Stars – one with a “V” for Valor – was discharged under DADT, but continued to serve, working with the Pentagon on DADT Repeal implementation as a representative of OutServe, the association of actively-serving LGBT military members.

Please join us for our inaugural Knights Out/Spectrum Celebration Dinner to be held at the West Point Club on March 31st, 2012.

Our goal is to allow every cadet who wants to attend to do so free of cost. Even if you cannot attend, click on the link to sponsor a cadet to attend the dinner.

Knights Out is USMA’s organization of West Point Alumni, Staff and Faculty who are united in supporting the rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender soldiers to openly serve their country.

Knights Out actively supports the Military Academy and cadet activities. We were able to send an official trip section to the 2011 OutServe Conference in Las Vegas; we have assisted in adapting the respect training to be more LGB inclusive; and have worked with cadets as they successfully created Spectrum – West Point’s first Gay-Straight Alliance. We continue to work with cadets, staff and faculty at USMA to identify further opportunities to support the Academy’s mission.
