R-PAS Contributions to

Child Custody Evaluations

This workshop presents the research, conceptual, and interpretative foundation for using R-PAS in child custody evaluations (CCE’s). Accordingly, important research and conceptual issues involved with defending the Rorschach and R-PAS in court will be presented. Multi-method assessment issues and what the Rorschach adds to CCE’s assessment, particularly relevant to severity of psychological disturbance, interpersonal, and affective features  will be highlighted. A case example will demonstrate applications of these key points. 

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

1. Identify recent research supporting the use of R-PAS in court. 
2. Identify key conceptual issues to support the Rorschach in court. 
3. Interpret key variables for parenting, including those associated with severity of psychological disturbance, interpersonal relationship style, and affective regulation consistent that could interfere with parenting. 
4. Describe what the Rorschach adds to other sources of information in CCEs. 
5. Identify problematic vs. positive scores in R-PAS output.

Fees: The cost for the webinar is $100. Students (40% off), university instructors (20% off), and clinical supervisors (10% off) may request a discount code prior to completing registration by contacting us at info@r-pas.org. Students should submit proof of academic enrollment or an unofficial transcript, while instructors and supervisors should submit some documentation attesting to their role. Discounts are not available after registration is completed and partial refunds are not available if you do not apply relevant discount codes in advance. Cancellations: Cancellations can be requested up to seven (7) days prior to the event (no later than April 24th).  Qualifying cancellations will result in a refund of the amount paid minus a $25 processing fee, payable by check or PayPal (credit cards will not be credited).

Continuing Education Credit:  Participants are eligible for 4 hours of continuing education credit. The program must be completed in its entirety with sign-in at the beginning and sign-out at the conclusion of the webinar in order to qualify for this credit (i.e., partial hours cannot be accommodated). CE Fee: There is an additional $15 charge to obtain a CE certificate. If you wish to receive CE, please select this option when registering. 

This program is co-sponsored by the Society of Personality Assessment (SPA) and R-PAS. SPA is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. SPA maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

Facilitators: 

Ginger Calloway, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist in private practice in Raleigh, N.C. where she provides evaluations, consultation and expert witness testimony to the Courts and attorneys.  Dr. Calloway’s training in assessment has allowed her to conduct various types of evaluations for family, civil and criminal courts including parenting plan access, parental fitness, mental status, personal injury, and intellectual disability.  Dr. Calloway was trained as a child psychologist and had a clinical practice prior to concentration in forensic psychology.  She trained as a mediator and has served as a Parent Coordinator in family court.  Dr. Calloway has presented at various meetings of legal and psychological professionals and at association meetings for law and psychology.  She is a member of the American Psychological Association (Psychology and Law Division 41, Division 5 – former chair of the assessment committee, Division 53, Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, and Section IX of Division 12, Clinical Psychology).  She is a Fellow of the Society for Personality Assessment and is a member of the Association of Court and Community Professionals (AFCC), the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children, the Association of Juvenile Court Professionals and Judges and the Association of Family Relations.  Dr. Calloway is past vice chair and chair of the Ethics and Professional Standards Committee for the NC Psychological Association.  She is a graduate of Queens College and earned her Ph.D. at North Carolina State University.

Donald J. Viglione, Ph.D., ABAP, is a Distinguished Professor at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University and past director of both the Ph.D. and Psy.D. programs in clinical psychology there.  He is a co-author of the R-PAS and has more than 35 years of experience teaching the Rorschach, more than 100 publications, and has published a total of three test manuals and reference guides.  His assessment research focuses on the Rorschach, but also includes work on malingering, trauma, violence, child, and psychometric issues.  He has offered Rorschach workshops internationally and is a Fellow of the Society for Personality Assessment.  He maintains a clinical and forensic assessment practice.
