2019 GFWC Georgia State Institute

Greetings fellow GFWC Georgia members! I hope you are having a great beginning to summer and are looking forward to the plans you have. I hope you are making plans to attend our annual Institute, a time to kick off more club adventures and fun. It is difficult to believe my second summer as the GFWC Georgia state president is upon us. This first year of the 2018-2020 administration has flown by for this officer.

I would like to invite you to LEARN at our annual Institute. Come Lead, Encourage, Aspire, Refresh, and reNew with more GFWC Georgia workshops, engaging speakers, and fulfilling friendships. Our venue is the Hyatt for both our meeting space and our overnight accommodations.

Our agenda is packed full of ideas for clubs and personal education for our membership. We will start off with our annual LEADS seminar on August 16. Please plan to attend this informative session for both new and experienced members. Saturday begins with a review of our online reporting progress with tips to continuously improve the online process. We have several guest speakers in the morning to educate members on healthy living, personal safety for women, and prevention of sex trafficking in our state. Our featured lunch speaker will be Amy Dosik, CEO of Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta. Then, our market place is back for some hands on project ideas from our six Community Service Programs. During this two hour function, members will be involved in visiting the six areas on a rotation basis.

Our service project continues to embrace GFWC President Mary Ellen Brock’s Seven Grand Initiatives: bring used rubber based shoes for Soles4Souls and the Nike Reuse program or a board game/phone card for our women in military program. Donations will be accepted during the market place from 2:00-4:00.

Join us then Saturday night for our State Board meeting, as well as to hear from member and this president’s best friend for humor, inspiration and maybe a tear or two as Cindy Glanton, foster and adoptive parent, shares her family’s journey of fostering over 125 children and adopting eight of their eleven children. Plan to cheer for your favorite recycled outfits at our Project Recycle Runway show! After our dinner meeting, enjoy music by Samuel Glanton and Fields.

Journey with the juniors on Sunday morning. Enjoy the complimentary breakfast each morning. Our intent is to save members money while providing a destination learning experience. Please come LEARN with your GFWC Georgia family August 16-18, 2019 in Athens at the Hyatt. I look forward to seeing you soon! Happy Summer!

In Federated Friendship,

Tina Daniel

GFWC Georgia State President 2018-2020
