physically, emotionally and spiritually?
Compassion Fatigue is the profound exhaustion that we experience
from constantly giving of ourselves with few opportunities for restoration.
Each day, people like you struggle to function while in care giving
environments that present heart wrenching, emotional challenges.
This painful reality, coupled with first-hand experience, takes its toll
on everyone from full time employees to part time volunteers.
Eventually, there is a cost. Our world view may change, we may
become fearful, or distant. This experience is referred to as
Secondary Trauma –the impact on our lives from witnessing trauma
in the lives of others.
There is a ripple effect within agencies when there is so much need.
We constantly give, even when we are depleted. This leads to despair
and hopelessness for employees, volunteers and clients. Alternatively,
when staff members are practicing healthy boundaries and personal growth,
there is also a positive ripple effect to health for clients.
In this workshop, you will:
The workshop will be facilitated by Becky Pomeroy. Becky is a
Licensed Professional Counselor who has a private counseling practice
in Erie. She works with individuals who are in transition in their lives
and are seeking to move through change.
Registration is from 8:30 to 9 a.m.
Workshop is from 9 to 11 a.m.
Leadership Luncheon: 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Executive directors, board members and human resource managers are invited
to a free lunch with Becky to discuss the workshop and how you can make positive
changes for your employees. If you are planning to attend, please be sure to
indicate your participation during the registration process.
Morning beverages will be available, and participants are welcome to
bring in their own food and drinks.
