Stocks: The Nut and Bolts

Stocks and mutual funds make great charitable gifts, however many non-profits overlook them. A working knowledge of stocks and investments is valuable to anyone involved in fund development as the onus is on us to remind donors of the advantages of donating stock.

This presentation shares basic information to help fundraisers evaluate how this type of investment may fit into an overall strategy. Stocks: The Nuts and Bolts looks at common versus preferred stock, dividends, investment strategy and different ways to own stock.

Member rate: $50

Non-Member rate: $75

Lunch is included

Please register by Wednesday Friday May 3rd.

About the Speaker

Audrey McFarlane

As an Edward Jones financial advisor, I partner with you to clarify where your finances are at today, and where you want them to be in the future, using terms that are easy to understand and strategies that are even easier to put into action.

I have combined the skills I have learned from my engineering degree with my many financial designations, including my CFP® or Certified Financial Planner designation, to create an investment strategy that can be summed up in one word......Plan. I focus on helping people, like you, answer the most common retirement question: "What can I spend in retirement?".

I will work with you to determine how much money you can spend in retirement and help you grow it if you need more; preserve it if you have enough; or help you plan to give it away if you have extra.

Whether you're planning for retirement, saving for college for children or grandchildren, or just trying to protect the financial future of yourself and the ones you care about the most, we can work together to develop a financial strategy tailored to help you achieve your goals. I understand that investing is about more than just money, and that's why I build personal relationships with clients, one at a time.

My family and I moved to Victoria from Calgary in 1990 and I am active participant in the local community. I sit on various boards and participate in local and national associations, service clubs and charities.

I serve clients throughout Victoria and Vancouver Island as well as Mainland BC, Alberta, Manitoba & Ontario.
