Greenbelt Art Deco Walking Tour + Vitaphone Shorts

Due to unforeseen circumstances,Tim Morawetz will be unable to give his planned presentation on Art Deco Canada Saturday. A copy of his book will be available for browsing but the program is being changed to

• expand the Greenbelt walking tour, and
• add a short program of Vitaphone shorts in place of the lecture.

We will meet in Room 114 of the Greenbelt Community Center at 1:00 p.m.  Free parking is available on both sides of the building. Staff at the front desk can offer assistance with directions to the room, which is on the first floor.  

A short 10 minute film will start things and then we will do the 90-minute walking tour. The tour will include a visit to the museum.  

Following the tour we will reconvene in room 114 for refreshments and a sampling of Vitaphone musical and dance shorts from the late 1920s and 1930s. We are working to put together a more comprehensive program of Vitaphone shorts at the AFI Silver Theatre in the near future.

If you registered for one or more of the other parts of our Spring events, but not the Greenbelt tour, you can still join us. Just email Jim Linz join the participant list. 

 If you no longer plan to participate in the revised program, let email Jim and he will issue a refund.

Historic Green Springs House and Garden tour in Alexandria, Virginia

Join us on June 8th for a 45-minute master gardener docent-led tour of the demonstration gardens followed by a full English tea, including assorted tea sandwiches, pastries, scones, cream & jam.
