"Reconciling Biomechanics with Pain Science"         with Greg Lehman

The American Massage Therapy Association - Minnesota Chapter is excited to host Greg Lehman, PT, DC, as our Fall Conference speaker on September 10 & 11, 2016 in Bloomington, MN!  Check in will begin at 8:30 AM each day with class running from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on the 10th and 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on the 11th. This course is worth 15 CEU.  

For over two decades, the biopsychosocial model of pain and injury has challenged traditional therapy concepts, that typically rely on biomechanical clinical reasoning and explanations. Significant research often appears to undermine the reasoning and justifications for many therapeutic aproaches.

In addressing both the weaknesses and strengths of the biomechanical approach, we see how treatment can be much simpler, congruent with modern neuroscience and evidence based best practices.  Therapists learn concepts and skills that simplify the assessment and treatment process. This includes how to teach patients useful pain science in a treatment framework that utilizes massage/manual therapy and therapeutic movement, and/or specific and corrective exercises.
