The Texas Foreign Language Association is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the Annual Fall Conference!

Early registration is closed. Onsite registration will be $200, and will open on Thursday, Oct 17th.

Please make sure your membership is up-to-date prior to registration. Conference is for up-to-date members only.

WS1:  Let’s eBook! Design your own and help students achieve proficiency through digital authoring!
At this hands-on workshop, participants will compare various eBook authoring tools and learn how to use Book Creator, an online-based book authoring tool, to create eBooks with text, images and sound/video files to teach world languages and cultures. Participants will also learn various genre of eBooks that can be created and how to assign eBooks as student projects to help extend students’ language skills and cultural understanding of the target language through brainstorming activities at the session.

WS2: Presentation: Planning for Proficiency with the TEKS for LOTE 

Understand the proficiency guidelines? The performance descriptors? Ready to see these research-based frameworks come together? Then you are ready for a deep dive into the TEKS for LOTE. A detailed understanding of our state standards and the goals grounding them impact classroom language learning goals, activities and assessments. Participants in this active workshop will examine the connections between the TEKS for LOTE, unit and lesson planning, performance tasks, and applications to the classroom.

WS3: Presentation: Using the Power of Music and Theater to Teach Spanish
SING, DANCE AND MAKE CLASSES MORE ENJOYABLE THROUGH MUSIC AND THEATER. Learn numerous interactive activities involving music including TPR, role playing and skits. Apply ways to use songs in Spanish to strengthen students’ communication skills, reinforce specific structures and vocabulary, and enhance the cultural awareness. Detailed handouts will be offered.

Refunds for Fall Conference registration will be charged a $50.00 processing fee until Oct. 11, and no refunds are available after Oct. 11.  Refund requests must be emailed to executivedirector@tfla.org, and must include the name of the person requesting the refund, the method of payment used for registration, and name of district or person receiving the refund.
