The Chaplet in Chant

QuickHelp Productions seeks volunteer participants for CatholicLife TV’s (CLTV) newest prayer program, The Chaplet in Chant, which will be videotaped on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at St. Joseph Cathedral in downtown Baton Rouge.  The local Chaplet will premiere on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 2:00 PM - 2:30 PM on CLTV (Cox Cable 15).

All individuals, families, religious congregations, parishes, schools, organizations and ministries, who have a devotion to the Mercy of God, are invited to attend.  The open invitation also extends to people of all faiths and denominations.   The volunteers will join area priests, deacons and seminarians to chant the Chaplet of The Divine Mercy, to pray the Divine Praises, and to receive blessing through Eucharistic Benediction.

While the Chaplet will be edited into a half-hour program for broadcast, the February 23 videotape session at St. Joseph Cathedral will last for two hours: from 10:00 AM – 12 noon.  Participants are encouraged to be prepared for multiple production stops and starts, as may be required.  The extended production time frame will help to ensure that the Chaplet is ready for its April 7th premiere.

To take part in CLTV’s video production for The Chaplet in Chant, participants are asked to be very familiar with the traditional chant for The Chaplet, and to be able to sing the prayer moderately well.  Although professional singing expertise is not required, quiet and respectful participation in the entire service will be necessary to complete the taping session on time.

An example of the format being used for the local Chaplet may be found on the website of CLTV’s national affiliate, the CatholicTV Network.  CatholicTV’s Chaplet, which is one of several which now airs locally on CLTV, features Fr. Robert Reed at St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, MA.   CatholicTV has also requested permission to air CLTV’s Chaplet on its network nationally, after local production is complete.

Just as The Louisiana Rosary was produced for CLTV in conjunction with the Year of the Rosary, The Chaplet in Chant is being produced during the Year of Faith.  Whether a volunteer actively participates in the videotaping at St. Joseph Cathedral, or a CLTV viewer daily says the Chaplet in the privacy of his or her home, each will help bring Our Lord’s very special blessings to our diocese.
