Lutheran Day at the Capitol 2013

Discipleship and Citizen Action

Tuesday, May 7, 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Registrations after May 1 will no longer be able to request appointments with legislators.

Join Lutherans from around the state for worship, learning, advocacy and action for a more just Commonwealth. The day will equip you for the ELCA Strategic Direction "to step forward as a public church that witnesses boldly to God's love for all the God has created." Lutheran Day at the Capitol will focus on our baptismal call to ministry in the public square and the unique voice of Lutheran Christians.  The day will include worship, a keynote address, a legislative briefing and visit training, workshops, a continental breakfast and lunch. Come to be inspired, prepared and equipped to act on issues that matter.

"Discipleship and Citizen Action", the keynote address, will be delivered by The Rev. Andrew D. Genszler, the Director for Advocacy and the Washington Office for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). A graduate of Wittenberg University in political science, he completed his M. Div. at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in 2000. He was a domestic policy intern in the Washington Office while completing a thesis in Christian ethics at the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg. He was the Associate Director for Public Policy for Lutheran Services in America 2001-02. Andrew then earned a Masters degree in public theology from the University of Oxford in England in 2004. Most recently he was the Director for Domestic Policy for the ELCA before being named to his current position in April, 2007. Pastor Genszler is also a chaplain in the US Navy Reserve.
