The Arc of White Womanhood

A course in 5 sessions

7-9pm ET, Weds October 7 & 21, November 4 & 18, December 2, 2020

A live, interactive online workshop designed as a caucus space for white women (including trans women and non-binary people) who are concerned with issues of white womanhood and racism. Facilitated through the lens of two cis white women looking to challenge the ways white feminism shows up in and is perpetuated by white cis gender women.

The arc refers to two concepts. One is that white women have a story. White culture teaches us to be ahistorical - if it isn't new and improved and right now, it didn't happen and doesn't matter. Many white women have little knowledge of our background, including critical ways we have been shaped by and help to shape white supremacy. The arc is our narrative, from the beginnings of humanity in Africa, to our ancestors in ancient Europe, to modern US white women.

Secondly, a deadly feature of our story so far has been white women's complicity with white supremacy. This workshop aims to educate, inspire and empower white women, to borrow from Dr. King, to bend our arc toward justice.
