Professional Development Teacher & Citizen Workshop:
"The History and Foundation of Religious Freedom in America"

Please join us on Saturday, October 22, 2016 for a professional development teacher's workshop hosted by the American Heritage Education Foundation (AHEF), the Center for Law & Liberty at Houston Baptist University (CLL-HBU), and the HBU School of Education.

The topic of the workshop will be "The History and Foundation of Religious Freedom in America."  Three scholars will discuss the emergence of religious tolerance in America, religious freedom as a natural right, the First Amendment, and the relationship of Church and State.  In addition, three teachers will present lessons/teaching strategies on these topics.  The program is open to educators from both public and private schools, and it will be of particular interest to History, Government, and Social Studies teachers.  Interested citizens are welcome.

Attendees will receive:

  • Presentations from three scholars who will help you better understand the history and foundation of religious freedom in America
  • Teaching strategies will be presented by three educators.
  • An opportunity for Q & A and discussion with scholars/educators in this field.
  • First time AHEF workshop attendees will receive a complimentary copy of The Miracle of America book
  • All attendees will receive a Certificate offered through the HBU School of Education for 3.0 credit hours of Professional Development.
  • Lunch will be provided.

Registration Fee:  $30 per person.  This program is underwritten by the American Heritage Education Foundation.  Seating is limited.

Copies of The Miracle of America book will be available at the event for $30 (cash or check only, while supplies last).  First time workshop attendees are eligible to receive a complimentary copy of the book.
