The Critical Skills Classroom is based on four key of theories: collaborative learning, experiential learning, problem-based learning and standards-driven learning.The Critical Skills Classroom Immersion is an intensive course to introduce participating educators to all the dimensions of the CSC. With the guidance and leadership of experienced, practicing k-12 teachers, participants experience the model as students, immersed in the philosophy and structures. 

Critical Skills Classroom builds skills in:
  • developing the classroom as a collaborative, problem-solving community
  • using the experiential learning cycle to support student learning
  • setting and maintaining standards for quality work & work processes
  • targeting 21st Century skills alongside the curriculum
  • designing & facilitating rigorous, engaging problem-based lessons 
  • using simple performance-based assessment tools
  • planning and structuring student exhibitions of learning, and
  • guiding student reflection and debriefing processes

The Critical Skills Classroom will help teachers engage Common Core aligned lessons that target speaking and listening skills, mathematical problems and higher order thinking skills.

This is a Continuing Education registration at Antioch University New England, earning professional development credits/hours. With the Continuing Education registration, you will be issued a Certificate of Participation as verification of earned professional develpment hours. It is your responsibility to maintain this record.

You have the option of taking this course for graduate level credit. The Graduate Credit choice gives you 3 graduate level transferable credits, with a transcript maintained by the AUNE Registrar's office. There is an additional registration fee of $400 for the graduate credit option. Please be aware that there will be extra documentation work for the graduate course.

To qualify for the Group Rate, four or more people from the same organization must register together.
