Advanced Federal CPIC: The Major IT Business Case

Advanced Federal Capital Planning & Investment Control (CPIC): The Major IT Business Case

Course Description:

This two-day CPIC course designed to give the student a deeper exposure to the Federal Capital Planning and Investment Control (CPIC) process. This course will help Federal Employees and Contractors develop a strong Business Case for their Investment, while also understanding the Laws, Statutes, Guidance, and Governance Structure associated with CPIC.  This course will also give the student additional knowledge of Federal Enterprise Architecture, Budget Formulation, and some of the tools available to assist with IT Capital Asset development and management. It also provides more interactive experiences with subject matter experts and guest presenters, and covers more material required within the Council's recommended CPIC Body of Knowledge (BOK), exam core knowledge, artifact and guidance exposure and explanations. For students looking for more practitioner-level core knowledge with artifacts such as risk management plans, integrated project teams and charters, operational analysis details; this more in-depth course is ideal.

 Recommended Pre-Requisites:

Some experience with or exposure to Capital Planning and Investment Control, Enterprise Architecture, Budget Formulation, and the OMB Circulars A-11 and A-130, but not required.   Students who have not taken a minimum of a 2-day course since 2012 are encouraged to attend to gain knowledge of the significant changes in business case reporting in the last several years.
