Social Reception: We encourage you to attend the Social Reception on Tuesday Evening after the session. This will be a great opportunity to network with your colleagues.  There will be a no host bar and heavy hors d' oeuvres will be served.

Invitation

In 2009, Congress mandated that a strategy be developed that addresses the wildland fire problem and how we as a nation can deal with it. The National Cohesive Strategy (www.forestsandrangelands.gov) was the outcome that simply states if wildland fires do not respect jurisdictional lines, then the resolve should involve a collaborative effort addressing Fuels, Communities and Response.

Nevada (Local, State & Federal) has adopted the National Cohesive Strategy and is jointly sponsoring this summit meeting.

The purpose of the summit is to convene an inclusive stakeholder group to build familiarity with the National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy (Cohesive Strategy), create a stakeholder network, and identify tangible strategic actions for implementing the Cohesive Strategy in Nevada, both in the short-term and long term.

The end product will be a listing and visual picture of what Nevada partners need to do for goal achievement.

The first half day (afternoon) will set the stage for where we’ve been and where are we going in the Cohesive Strategy. The second day will involve group exercises to map out action steps and foster new networks. On the third day (morning), the group will report out on the prior dialogue and present the roadmap to success. You are welcome to attend each day or may attend as time allows.

We hope that you can attend this important event!
