In this three hour workshop, Bonnie Ownes will explore how to create a scaffold of hope supported with Trauma-Informed Care for your clients. The illumination of one’s resiliency can provide the catalyst for change. Learn how to guide your clients on a path from Injury to Restoration to Healing to Post Traumatic Growth.
You will learn about The 10 Ingredients of Resiliency, Post Traumatic Traits, The 5 Domains of Post Traumatic Growth, Post Traumatic Growth Inventory, Modeling PTG through 12 Step Self Help Programs, and Redefining of Self and Purpose

ABOUT THE PRESENTER:
Bonnie E. Owens, LCSW-R, CASAC, ICADC, EMDR 2
With over 25 years in the field of mental health and addictions, Bonnie ran “Honor and Resiliency,” a trauma and recovery program dedicated to uniformed service members at Seafield Center. This groundbreaking treatment program focuses on inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation for uniformed service members suffering from a variety of trauma-related conditions.
Bonnie’s specialties include: trauma informed care, the psychobiology of trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), mood disorders, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR). Bonnie is a Police Organization Providing Peer Assistance (POPPA) clinician and, since the terrorist attacks on 9/11, she has been a consultant with the FDNY Counseling Services Unit. Immediately after 9/11, Bonnie partnered with peer counselors to educate members of the FDNY on acute and post-traumatic stress, providing firehouse outreach.
As a degreed Recreation Therapist and Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Bonnie brings her unique blend of the Brain-Body connection to her treatment modalities. She is the creator of KAYAKTHERAPY™, a specialized brain-body psychotherapy technique based on the neuroscience of exercise, the bilateral stimulation of the brain inherent in the paddling motion, and complete sensory immersion, all happening simultaneously and creating an optimal platform for learning, creativity, clarity, and reprocessing,
Bonnie Owens is an established trainer, presenter at conferences, workshops, and at graduate and post graduate social work programs. She maintains a private psychotherapy practice in Freeport, NY and Shinnecock Hills, NY, where she primarily works with rescue and recovery workers, law enforcement personnel, and active and returning military personnel and their families.
