Matters of the Heart & Mind Festival

Come and join us at the Matters of the Hearts and Minds Festival! 

The Matters of the Heart and Mind Festival is a one day event hosted by the Association for Mental Health and Wellness to increase public awareness of the need to de-stigmatize mental illness, especially in our communities of color.
By putting the spotlight on artists who through their art and activism raise awareness on issues surrounding mental illness, the Matter of the Heart and Mind Festival will elevate the public’s awareness of de-stigmatization in regard to mental illness. The performances of the selected artists from across Long Island illuminates and celebrates the power of narrative art as a tool in the toolbox for challenging stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness.  The event will give the opportunity for various artists via dance, music, spoken word, poetry, rap and various other mediums to speak to the stigma of mental illness and challenge the status quo of our communities to step in to the light of supporting those who may be struggling.   The event itself will be populated with artists from all backgrounds and life experiences that carry compelling narrative and the event will celebrate the select artists engaged in anti-stigma work through their expression and activism.

The event will also spotlight the Harlem Wizards!

**Vendors are required to supply their own table and chairs for the event.
