Healing Adult Trauma with Insight, Knowledge, and Experience

This workshop will focus on defining trauma in adults, understanding the source, symptoms, and coping mechanisms of trauma, and learning about the healing of trauma. Attendees will gain knowledge and insight on trauma by having a clear definition and details of the signs and symptoms. Specific treatment methods for use with clients who have experienced trauma will also be discussed.   

Who Should Attend:

Social Workers, Mental Health Counselors, Creative Arts Therapists, Marriage and Family Therapists, and any professional that is working in the mental health field.    

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants  will gain knowledge and insight on trauma and be able to clearly define trauma. 
  • Participants will understand the signs and symptoms of trauma.
  • Participants will learn about specific treatment methods to use with clients who have experienced trauma.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER


Saadia Z. Yunus, MA, LMFT is a licensed marriage and family therapist, motivational speaker, and community leader.  She has extensive experience helping individuals, couples, families, and groups, is trained in trauma, and gives presentations and workshops throughout the country. She is a mental health columnist for The Message International magazine. She owns a private practice in Deer Park, NY and is the cofounder of Muslimahs of Long Island.  She is on the advisory board of Dolan Family Health Center in Huntington, NY and on the board of The Barbershop Group, a national men's health advocacy organization.  She also serves on the leadership team of the New York Marriage and Family Therapy Network. Born and raised in Bonifay, Florida, Saadia Z.
