Description:
Filial Play Therapy is a well-researched and highly effective psycho-educational skills training model that integrates "the magic" of Child-Centered Play Therapy and direct parent involvement in the change process. In Filial, the therapist trains parents to become the healer of their own child in a process which enhances the parent/caregiver and child relationship. The focus is on the present, emphasizing appropriate skills for positive parent/child relationships and for increasing positive attachment. Filial Therapy is an evidence-based model. This 2 day training will include brief lectures, live and videotaped demonstrations, skill building practice sessions, case discussions with video clips which will illustrate both individual and group models of this modality.
