The learner will understand the multi-faceted care of the elderly patient. To include: the care of co-morbidities, pathophysiology specific to the elderly patient, poly-pharmacy, end-of-life issues, abuse, and family dynamics.
The presenter will be Steven J Jewell, BSN, RN, CEN, CPEN, USN (ret.)
Mr. Jewell is a Critical Care Registered Nurse working for the Department of Army at the San Antonio Military Medical Center in San Antonio in their Emergency & Trauma Center. This facility is the only Level I Trauma Hospital and the primary burn center for the Department of Defense. He has lectured emergency nursing topics covering critical incident stress management, secondary trauma syndrome, and Ketamine administration, to name a few. Mr. Jewell is the current Chairperson of the Emergency Nurses Association Foundation and also is serving as the President of the Texas Emergency Nurses Association. Aside from nursing lecturing, Steven also provides education and coaching to various nursing organizations on how to provide successful educational conferences and webinars.
