Part 1: Compassion Fatigue & Self-Care During a Pandemic: Strategies for the Healthcare Worker 

 

During this public health emergency front-line healthcare workers are experiencing profound challenges in both their work and home environments, greatly compromising their emotional well-being and personal resiliency to meet the challenges of this pandemic on a daily basis. This presentation will review the challenges for healthcare workers during the pandemic, including how to identify the signs and symptoms of Compassion Fatigue amongst themselves, and their co-workers. Multiple resources for support to manage Compassion Fatigue will be provided. 

Session Objectives: As a result of this session, the participant will be able to: 

  1. Recognize the symptoms of Compassion Fatigue
  2. Identify how monitoring your feelings and focusing your empathy helps maintain personal resiliency
  3. Verbalize 3 strategies for Self-Care to minimize or prevent Compassion Fatigue
