Sal Schifilliti: Presenter
Sal was an international banker for 25 years, with extensive experience in credit, finance and banking operations. Upon his retirement he moved to Florida with his wife, Robin. After a short period of providing consulting services he started his own business in the Treasure Coast by acquiring a franchise. He was involved in all aspects of the business, from marketing, to maintaining his own accounting records. After twelve years of successful operation, growing to four different locations, Sal sold his business and he’s now fully retired. He holds a B.S. degree in accounting, masters in finance and speaks four languages.

Treasure Coast SCORE'S 'Simple Steps' for Starting a Business program helps you prepare a blueprint for achieving your dreams for business ownership. Simple Steps Start is a series of four modules that will give you the necessary tools to start a business. The program is designed to give busy, aspiring entrepreneurs the skills to create and validate a business idea and to create a business plan to implement that idea.
Introductory Module # 1 is an interactive two-hour seminar that will deal with the key information you need to consider as you move forward. Topics include:
- Risks, benefits and myths of Entrepreneurship - The truth about business ownership.
- What does it take to establish a successful business? - Assessing your skills & experience.
- Know your options: Different types of businesses - A closer look at various ways of starting a business.
- The nuts & bolts of launching a new business.
- Business plan basics - Why you need a business plan.
This introductory module is a stand alone, solid first step. It will help you understand what is involved in starting and running a business and your stage of readiness. You will find this is time well spent. You will walk away with a head full of ideas for your next steps.
There is no fee for this Introductory Module

If you chose to continue with the balance of the Simple Steps Start program:
- You will attend three additional modules that cover validating the business idea, creating a marketing and sales plan, and creating a financial and capital plan.
- There is a fee of $80 for these three modules. You will also be given the opportunity to work with an experienced Score mentor, at no additional cost, to help you build a comprehensive business plan that will turn your idea into reality.
