NEW! Understanding and Using Financial Reports and Concepts--6/12/20 & 6/19/20
Accounting and finance are the language of business for a reason. Only by understanding basic accounting terms and concepts can one understand and use financial reports to manage and improve their business.
In this two part workshop you will learn the basics of accounting terms and concepts and gain the ability to understand financial reports and some of their many uses to manage your business.
In Session #1 we will explore the terms and concepts of accounting and how they are used to build financial reports most commonly used by businesses. Fundamental principles such as consistency and conservatism underlie the concepts of assets, liabilities, revenue, and expense. We will examine how these concepts become the building blocks of most financial reports and statements such as the balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, and product profitability reports, and in so doing gain an understanding of those reports and statements.
In Session# 2 we will explore how these reports and concepts can help you manage a business. We will learn how to extract the story of the business operation from the financial statements and further, how to use that story to improve those operations. We will discuss how to build and use budgets, how to use a cash flow report to manage cash needs, how to perform variance and ratio analysis, and how to make capital asset investment decisions.
Each Part is 2 hours in length. Session # 1 will be held on 6/12/20 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Session #2 will be one week later on 6/19/20 from 10:00 AM to Noon. Both are on line events. At session #1 you will receive a URL to enable you to attend session #2. .
