28 February 2019: DPAAS Meeting Invitation

"Acquisition Process Model (APM) and the Common Portal Environment (CPE)

We are very pleased to announce that Mr. John M. Miller (SES), SAF/AQX, will be our speaker at the 28 February (Thursday) DPAAS meeting, 11:30-1:30 pm, 2800 Presidential Drive, Holiday Inn, Fairborn, Ohio. Mr. Miller will discuss the Acquisition Process Model (APM) and the Common Portal Environment (CPE).

Abstract: The Air Force Acquisition Community has implemented several efforts to streamline processes and accelerate the schedule of acquisition programs. The APM is the USAF answer to visualize Acquisition Process, enabling immediate access to current DoD and USAF Acquisition Policy documents and the associated processes. It is a critical tool for all involved in the Acquisition Enterprise, from PEOs (Program Executive Officers) to AOs (Action Officers) to get the latest approved documents and templates, enabling users to tailor DoDI 5000.02 faster. The CPE is the single integrated environment for the Acquisition workforce to access all the tools they need to accomplish their mission. The CPE went live on 24 January 2019 and will add capabilities utilizing a gradual approach. Applications on the CPE include: the APM, PMRT, MAR access, DAVE, and many more (40+). This presentation will provide overviews of these two powerful acquisition tools.

John M. Miller, a member of the Senior Executive Service, is the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Acquisition Integration, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Washington, D.C. Mr. Miller leads the 100-member acquisition staff organization charged with planning, managing and analyzing the Air Force's $200 billion (FYDP) research and development, and acquisition investment budget. He oversees the integration of full-life cycle acquisition equities into strategy, requirements, policy, processes, funding, program execution, information technology, and workforce management. These activities enable the 25,000-member Air Force acquisition corps to deliver the vital capabilities necessary to accomplish the Air Force’s core missions.

Mr. Miller began his career with the Air Force in 1988 at the Aerospace Guidance and Metrology Center, Newark AFB, Ohio. His career spans various assignments and locations at logistics and product centers, naval air station, major command headquarters, and Air Staff recently completing a successful assignment as Program Executive Officer for Agile Combat Support. Mr. Miller's experience covers engineering, program and logistics management, and policy development. He assumed his current position in September 2015.

Note: Participation in DPAAS is limited to representatives of the United States Government and U.S. Defense Contractors. All representatives must be Citizens of the United States.
