Overcoming Cultural Trauma of Totalitarianism

This workshop will examine the long-lasting impact the totalitarian leadership style leaves on the individual and collective psyche. The brainwashing, terror, and political violence unleashed by a government's abusive power can increase the likelihood of recurring societal victimization in the following generations. This webinar offers practical strategies for recognizing preconceived assumptions stemming from cultural trauma and challenging barriers to transformative change in society.

Participants will be able name features that define totalitarian regimes, identify social cognitions that can be traced back to surviving abusive political leadership and challenge preconceived assumptions related to societal trauma. This training is appropriate for all levels and consists of a 90-min presentation and 30-min Q&A to allow interaction between the presenter and participants in real time.

Presenter: Elena Cherepanov, PhD, LMHC

Moderator: Pearl Berman, PhD
