Join us for the second workshop in a series exploring earthquake disaster risk and the role for the maritime sector to play in resupplying the Puget Sound with critical supplies like food and water. Learn more about this project and view the materials and recording of the first workshop on September 9 here: https://www.regionalresilience.org/rcpgp-maritime-disaster-resilience.html

The virtual event on October 14 will build on the lessons learned in the first workshop. Draft agenda as follows:

9:00 am
Welcome remarks by Jason Biermann, Director of Snohomish County Emergency Management and Chair of the Regional Catastrophic Planning Grant

9:15 am
Project overview and a recap of what we learned in the first workshop

9:30 am
Panel and interactive discussion on the roles and responsibilities of different organizations in the event of a catastrophic earthquake. Discussion topics include:
  • What information will be needed to allow maritime stakeholders to begin assisting with the response and resupplying CPODs?
  • What do current Continuity of Operations plans look like?
  • What are the key interdependencies to be aware of?
  • How can the region pre-stage contact information, asset data, contracts, information-sharing protocols, and the like?
  • Panelists TBD
10:30 am
Discussion on best practices in Rapid Damage Assessment and Information Sharing. What can we learn from other sectors and how can we apply those examples to the maritime industry?

11:15 am
Discussion on maritime asset data collection
  • The RCPGP team from Snohomish County will review the data collected so far, what additional assets and data points are needed, and demonstrate how this project will produce a mapping app with data layers to help plan resupply of CPODs. Participants will have an opportunity to provide input on how best to collect, display, and share the information.
