Join the Diamond D Cowgirls National Champion Drill Team! With teams for all ages and disciplines, you can audition for the Pre JV, JV, Varsity, Rusty Spurs, Classical Skills or Legacy Drill Team.

Riders auditioning for the Pre JV, JV, Varsity, Rusty Spurs, Classical Skills and Legacy teams may ride their own horse or audition with a Dabney Lesson Horse. Dabney horses will be provided for auditions, practices and performances for these teams as needed.

Riders will receive a basic and short drill pattern (8 maneuvers) to perform with three to five other riders. Each group will have time to practice with their group walking through the pattern on foot and then riding through the pattern in the arena before they audition.  

*All audition results will be final based on score calculation and careful discussion between the judges. With over 12 years of experience riding and coaching drill teams of all levels, please trust that we are taking into consideration many elements of each riders abilities and skills to place them on a team that we feel they will best succeed with confidence and safety for the entire team. If you are not satisfied with the results of your riders placing, you have 24 hours to decline the position after the results have been sent out.

Riders are able to choose multiple teams when registering to increase their chances of being on a team. During auditions, riders will tryout at the more challening level. For example, riders wishing to audition for both JV and Varsity teams, will try out only once, at the Varsity level.

*We have added a new adult team this season, Classical Skills team. This group of riders will be focusing, in detail classical dressage maneuvers and incorporating them into a drill routine. This team will ride together from Aug- May to take the time necessary to develop the riders and horses to perform with the appropriate level of precision required.

PERFORMANCE DATE COMMITMENTS:

All Teams will perform at the November 12th Fall Showcase at Dabney Riding Academy at 2:00pm-4:00pm!
JV teams and Varsity teams will perform at, at least one competition each during the Fall Season season. 
Performance and competition dates will be discussed at the first practice.

 PRACTICE SCHEDULE (August- November) 

All practices will take place at Dabney Riding Academy:

Practice Times: 

Pre JV Team- Walk/Trot (Ages 5- 12): 2 Saturdays a month 11:30 - 1:00 PM
JV Team- Trot/Lope (Ages 6-16): Thursdays 5:00 - 6:30 PM
Varsity Team- Lope with Flags (Ages 10-25): Tuesdays 5:00 - 6:30 PM
Rusty Spurs- Trot/Lope (Adults): 2 Saturdays a month 10:30 am - 12:00pm
Classical Skills- Trot (Adults): 2-4 Weekdays a month, Time and day TBD
Legacy Team- Lope with Flags (Adults): 2 Saturdays a month 9:00 am - 10:30am

*If needed, to accomodate more riders, we will add an additional JV or Varsity team which will practice on either Wednesday or Friday at 5:00pm.

PRICING

Auditions: $15 per rider

JV and Varsity:  $140 per month (4 consequtive group lessons) plus competition fees.

Pre JV, Rusty Spurs and Legacy Teams: $75 per month (2 group lessons a month)

-To future Professional Diamond D Cowgirls and their friends and family: There is no smoking, swearing or drinking when in uniform at events, practices or anytime when wearing the team logo or riding with the team. The Diamond D Cowgirls are role models.
