ECONOMICS of DATING

What do dating, economics and critical thinking have in common?  Everything... we hope!  Join ACEE at this fun interactive workshop that uses the tools of economics to explore and analyze the world of dating.

How early is too early to ask a date to prom? Are diamonds really a girl’s best friend?  Should you date out of your league?  Why do florists gouge romantic consumers on Valentine's Day?  What's with all the super-star break-ups?  And more!

From The Dating Game to dating apps... enjoy a trip down memory lane as we explore the institutions that influenced dating then and now.  Bring economics to life with fun activities, video clips and examples your students can relate to.  Arm them with the tools to make good dating decisions.  From marginal analysis, transaction costs, and diminishing returns to the sunk cost fallacy, supply and demand, and even a Valentine's Day price index, this workshop has it all.  Give your students a Valentine's Day lesson - economics style!

This workshop is best suited for middle and high school teachers with cross-disciplinary applications in economics, personal finance, math, psychology and history.

$20 workshop fee includes 3 hours of professional development and dinner.
