Enjoy laughter and tears at one of Huntsville’s best events! The 22nd Annual Tell Me a Story, A Storytelling Festival will feature Donald Davis and Michael Reno Harrell.

Donald Davis was born in a Southern Appalachian mountain word rich in stories, surrounded by a family of traditional storytellers who told him gentle fairy tales, simple and silly Jack tales, scary mountain lore, ancient Welsh and Scottish folktale, and more importantly, nourishing, true-to-life stories of his own neighbors and kin.  Featured at festivals throughout the U.S. and world, Davis is also known as prolific author, producer of books and CDs, and a guest host for NPR’s Good Evening. Davis is a recipient of the NSN ORACLE Circle of Excellence and Lifetime Achievement awards.  “I could have listened all morning to Donald Davis… his stories often left listeners limp with laughter at the same time they struggled with a lump iin the throat.” --- New York Times

Michael Reno Harrell is an award-winning songwriter and veteran storyteller and entertainer from the Southern Appalachian Mountains, where storytelling is as much a part of the culture as is music.  Four decades of performing have taken him to over forty states and several countries.  A consummate performer, Harrell’s combination of music and storytelling is based in experience---sometimes very funny, sometimes a bit scary, often heartwarming and always entertaining.  “In a perfect world, every town would have a storyteller, a keeper of the trunk of memories reminding us of who we are and where we came from. Michael Reno Harrell is that keeper.”  Western North Carolina Magazine
