More Information:

The term ‘fake news’ has become a common phrase over the last year. Its rise to the forefront of public dialogue has prompted Facebook to adjust its algorithm, media companies to evaluate fact checking processes, and has deeply impacted the public relations industry.

This special event will bring together journalists, academics, and public relations professionals to discuss recent trends associated with fake news, reporting based on rumors and unverified reports, and dissemination of inaccurate information.

Attendees will learn ways to identify sources of fake news and how to avoid inadvertently spreading propaganda. This event will also help public relations professionals continue to provide accurate information, and work ethically and effectively with the media and other audiences in this new climate.

Students: take advantage of extended networking time to find your next internship! Professionals with internship opportunities will have special nametags so you'll be able to easily find them.

PRSA Capital Region Reservation Policy:

All no-shows will be billed. For attendees who have pre-paid and pre-registered, refunds will only be made to those who cancel their reservation in writing via email to prsacapitalregion@gmail.com no less than 48 hours prior to the event.
