Let's Pull Together!
Coast Fork Cleanup & Invasive Removal

WHAT: Following up on the heels of Thanksgiving, WRK is joining forces with the Friends of Buford Park & Mt. Pisgah to help clean up the riparian areas and remove invasive plants along the Coast Fork Willamette, just upstream from the mainstem confluence.

WHEN & WHERE: Tuesday, November 29th | 9am - 12pm
Meet at the Pisgah Public Market at 9am
in the parking lot at 35851 Hwy. 58. We will be using a private access road to get to our site, and will be consolidating into a carpool from this spot. Please use the parking spaces closest to the highway, leaving storefront spaces open for customers.

DETAILS: This is an important floodplain area just above the confluence of the Middle/Coast Forks with our mainsten Willamette. Knotweed, teasel, thistle, yellow iris, and blackberry all pose an issue for downstream habitats, and we hope to help relieve some of the pressure from these invasives by eradicating populations in this area, as well as addressing debris removal before highwater carries it downstream.

Please bring your own water and reuseable coffee cup if you have one - we'll provide coffee, hot water/tea/cocoa, and snacks. Please wear weather appropriate clothing, bring layers and a warm hat, and sturdy closed-toe shoes for safety against sharps and walking in uneven terrain. Waterproof shoes are suggested for floodplain areas. Bring your favorite digging or cutting tools, although we will have plenty on hand as well. We will also provide trash bags, non-latex gloves, trash pickers and garbage bags.

QUESTIONS? Please contact FBP volunteer coordinator, Jared Tarr, at volunteer@bufordpark.org or WRK administrator, Michelle Emmons at michelle@willametteriverkeeper.org.
