Huge thanks to our partners:
WHAT: Join Willamette Riverkeeper and Salem Parks for a trash removal event on the Willamette River! Our group will paddle a short distance upstream from Wallace Marine Park to the north end of the Willamette Slough and work under the Peter Courtney Bridge.
WHERE: We will be meeting at Wallace Marine Park, located at 200 Glenn Creek Rd NW Salem, OR 97304. When you arrive, follow signs to the boat ramp, NOT the softball fields. Plan to meet at the first parking lot on your left that leads to the gravel bar and the old boat launch, you will see a Willamette Riverkeeper sign. We will be launching from and returning to this same site.
WHEN: Wednesday, August 23rd from 9am - 12:30pm. Plan to be ready at 9am for a safety chat and to start getting on the water.
DETAILS: Advance registration is necessary. Bring your own boat, or borrow one of our canoes for this on water event. If you are bringing your own boat, don't forget your PFD! Interested in borrowing a Willamette Riverkeeper canoe? Make sure to reserve ahead of time through this registration. All canoes seat 2 people and you must bring your own paddling partner! Reserved canoes also come with 2 paddles and 2 PFDs.
Make sure to dress for the weather, and pack water, a snack, work gloves, sunscreen, and close-toed shoes that you don't mind getting wet. We will provide trash bags, disposible gloves and trash pickers.
A porta-potty will be available at Wallace Marine Park.
This event is best suited for those 18 +, or 14+ if accompanied by an adult. No prior paddling experience is necessary.
