ROSS ISLAND RIVER DISCOVERY PADDLE

WHAT: Join Willamette Riverkeeper for our fall River Discovery paddling tour of Ross Island. WR will lead participants around Ross Island, and venture a bit into the lagoon. There is a lot of interesting history here, and WR has been working on behalf of the island's clean water and healthy habitat for 27 years. In 2007, WR helped to transfer 44 acres to the City of Portland by negotiating directly with the Pamplin Corporation, along with our partners Portland Audubon, and the Urban Greenspaces Institute. Now, WR is making a major push for public ownerships of the island as well, in order to address multiple issues more effectively.

WHERE: Willamette Park, 9AM - Please be on time! We will endeavor to hit the water at 9:30AM.

WHEN: Saturday, October 21st | 9AM - 12PM

DETAILS: We will provide tandem canoes at no charge. Reserve your seat when you register.

Please pack along lunch, snacks and water and wear weather appropriate clothing and bring an extra set of layers in a dry bag in case you get wet. You will be stepping into the water to get in and out of the canoe, so wear footwear that can get wet and pants that can be rolled up, tucked into boots or are quick to dry.

We will be paddling to Ross Island and will circumnavigate as conditions allow. We will pause at the downstream tip of the island for lunch/snack etc. The total trip time is approximately two hours. Participants should be comfortable paddling 5-6miles in water that has some waves and current.

Restrooms are availabe at the put in and take out only.
