Engineers Without Boarders USA (EWB-USA) is a non-profit organization established to support community-driven development worldwide through partnerships that design and implement sustainable engineering projects.   EWB-USA members, comprised of professional and student engineers or other disciplines, work with local communities and NGOs in over 45 developing countries around the world such as water, renewable, energy, sanitation and more.  EWB-USA has over 12,000 members, 350 projects worldwide, and over 250 student and professional chapters.

The Sacramento Valley Professional Chapter has completed projects in Kenya, South Africa, Gambia and Belize.  Current projects include access to clean water in East Kanyamamba, sanitation in Nicaragua, and a water distribution system in Tranquilla.  There most recent travel was to Nicaragua and is the primary subject of today’s presentation.

ASCE grants “Life Member” status to those who have reached the age of 65 and paid dues for at least 30 years—the last 10 years of which have been continuous.  The Capital Branch values their decades of expertise and deeply appreciates their support of ASCE programs.
