The USCG Eagle has served the US Coast Guard for seven decades as a training vessel for academy cadets and officer candidates. The ship was built in Germany in 1936 and was named Horst Wessel after a Nazi youth leader. It was renamed Eagle after being taken in reparation as a war prize by the United States in 1946.

The speaker will be Gale 'Jake' Jacobs who has sailed aboard the Eagle on 5 cruises, including a portion of this year's European voyage where the ship visited 8 countries while training academy cadets and hosting high-level dignitaries in each port of call. All interested in our seagoing services are invited to attend |
The Navy league is comprised of citizens in support of the US sea services including Navy, Marines, Coast Guard and all who serve our nation at sea.
