Jane Terry is an experienced policy and legislative leader with 20 years of experience working with local, state and federal government officials on transportation, telecommunications, workplace safety, community development and healthcare initiatives.

Prior to joining the National Safety Council, Jane served as the director of government affairs at the National Transportation Safety Board. In this role, she effectively communicated the work of the NTSB to Congressional leaders resulting in a higher level of funding for the agency during a time of budget cuts. Her education and advocacy efforts resulted in many NTSB safety recommendations in the areas of aviation, pipeline, rail and highway safety becoming law.

At NTSB Jane developed the platform for on-scene government affairs support for accident investigations. She led on-the-ground engagement with elected officials and the community during the 2015 Amtrak derailment in Philadelphia, PA, the 2014 Harlem, NY, gas pipeline explosion, the 2013 crude oil train derailment and explosion in Casselton, ND, the 2013 Asiana Airlines accident in San Francisco, the 2013 I-5 bridge collapse in Washington state, the 2012 hazardous materials train derailment in Paulsboro, NJ, and the 2010 Marshall, MI, oil pipeline rupture.

Jane led her own government relations firm in Atlanta, GA, handling transportation and local government policy at the state and federal levels. Prior to that, she worked in Washington, D.C. on the staff of Georgia Senator Max Cleland.

Originally from Austell, GA, Jane graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in political science and economics. She lives in Arlington, VA, with her husband and two daughters.
