About the Instructor: Patrick M. Joyce


Mr. Joyce has been a Private Pilot since 2005 with approximately 200 hours of time as pilot-in-command of standard and sport aircraft. He has owned and operated his own private sport aircraft (N502PW) for approximately 5 years, based at Homestead General Aviation Airport. He currently has a Private Pilot certificate and a Part 107 Remote UAS Pilot certificate for operation of commercial drones.


He enlisted in the U.S. AIR FORCE in July 1971. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant (E5), and worked as a 70250 Administrative Specialist. He served two tours of duty in Thailand during the Vietnam War, at Takhli and Nakhon Phanom. Later, he was stationed for three years in Aviano, Italy where he finished an Associate Degree with Univ. of Maryland. Along the way, he received the Good Conduct Medal and the Wartime Service Medal.


Mr. Joyce has 2 master's degreees, and spent 22 years as Safety and Training Coordinator of the City of Fort Lauderdale, where he personally conducted hundreds of safety programs for over 800 employees in the Utilities, Public Works, and Parks departments. He is a professional who understands workplace safety, preparedness, security, and has a good grasp on the rules and practices in general aviation. He has some good stories.
